Joe joined Federal’s Board in 2025. He was appointed president and chief financial officer of Public Storage in 2026, following his service as president, chief financial officer, and chief investment officer at UDR, Inc., an S&P 500 multifamily real estate investment trust with a portfolio of more than 60,000 apartment homes across major U.S. markets.
With more than 20 years of experience in real estate investment, development, and capital markets, Joe led UDR’s investment and capital allocation strategies and was recognized as a Top 3 CFO in REITs by Institutional Investor in 2022.
Prior to joining UDR, he held senior investment roles at Deutsche Asset Management and Principal Real Estate Investors. Joe holds a B.B.A. from the University of Iowa and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
