The COVID-19 global pandemic has drastically shifted workplace environments in many industries all over the world. As one of the oldest REITs in the US, Federal Realty has continually modified its practices to persevere as not only a successful company, but also a favorable place to work.

As mentioned by our CEO, Don Wood, “Even through these challenging times, our team has exhibited continued resiliency, collaboration and innovation, which is made possible by being the connected and engaged workforce that we strive to be.”

Federal offers a team-oriented, motivated environment where employees share a passion to succeed. We offer professional development opportunities, internal promotions, wellness initiatives, ample charitable opportunities, clear channels of communication, robust benefit plans, 401k match, flexible hours and more, to our dedicated workforce.

Despite the unique circumstances the past 15 months has presented, much of our company’s success can be attributed to our loyal team here at Federal.

In addition to not laying off any employees or modifying pay for any employees, throughout the pandemic, Federal has continued to support employee wellness by promoting its virtual telemedicine and healthcare platform, as well as its employee assistance program, which provides confidential solutions for mental health management, caregiving support, financial/legal advice and more, to further enhance work/life balance.

In many areas of work, the COVID-19 pandemic stunted professional development and growth in the workplace, largely due to lack of resources. Through Federal’s internal platform, employees are afforded the opportunity to continue professional growth, providing access to online courses, webinars, books and audiobooks. To increase creativity and motivation, Federal also offers a quarterly recognition program as well as reimbursements for industry licensures.

Providing meaningful staff support was crucial in the development of best practices that helped us adapt during our remote work transition. Some of these strategies and best practices have allowed us to continuously offer remote work to our staff. As the global workforce slowly transitions back to in-office collaboration, offering both options to work remote or in office adds even more to our employee experience.
